Dear Fathers/Brothers/Sisters/Principals/People of God/Students,
Sub.: Appeal for solidarity and contribution towards disaster victims of floods in Tamil Nadu
The devastating flood in Chennai and adjoining districts has caused great havoc in Tamil Nadu. A good number of people had lost their beloved ones, houses and properties. Thousands of families have been displaced and an approximate of 2.5 lakh hectors of agricultural crops destroyed. Heavy rainfall which started from 9th November 2015 mainly due to the depression over the Bay of Bengal has caused this natural calamity.
The Catholic Diocese of Meerut expresses her solidarity with the flood affected victims of Tamil Nadu in a Spirit of Prayer and sacrifice. Looking into the magnitude of the destruction His Eminence Baselios Cardinal Cleemis, President of CBCI, has appealed for solidarity towards disaster victims of flood in Tamil Nadu. Yes, they are in need of our prayers and generous support to be rehabilitated. Let us join our hands with the humanitarian work by contributing generously to the rehabilitation works of the Church in alleviating the pain of the victims.
In this Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy let our works of charity manifest the Face of the Merciful Father to the people who are going through great pain and agony. In the past whenever I appealed to you in such situations you have been always generous. Kindly do the same and send your valuable contribution to “The Catholic Diocese of Meerut”.
With Prayers and blessings,
Yours in our Lord
+ Francis Kalist
Bishop of Meerut
